How do I make a Facebook photo album public while keeping pictures of myself private?

I have a bunch of albums that I do not appear in on Facebook that I want to be seem by everybody, yet it looks like I can’t make this happen unless I make pictures in which I’m tagged also public. Is there a way to avoid this? If so, how?
